Safety & Health

The Oregon Safety & Health Section (OSHS) is established to promote networking and the sharing of information between Fire Service Health and Safety Officers and other training, safety and wellness personnel in the state and nation. This section will provide technical guidance and recommendations to Oregon Fire Chiefs for development, interpretation and application of OR-OSHA occupational safety and health rules, National Fire Protection Association Standards, and other safety, health and wellness issues that are applicable to emergency services.

Northwest Leadership Seminar

The Northwest Leadership Seminar Mission is to provide a variety of dynamic manager training courses and leadership management seminars for public safety leader of today and tomorrow. The Northwest Leadership Seminar has been preparing and supporting primarily public sector leaders since 1970. The Seminar has gained recognition throughout the United States and Canada for its exceptional leadership and management training. The NWLS offers tremendous value for leaders dedicated to developing their leadership skills.

Oregon Fire Instructors Association Section

The mission of the Oregon Fire Instructors Association (OFIA) is to facilitate and support cooperative and progressive Fire Service Training and Education. OFIA accomplishes its mission by providing:

  • * Interaction and communications between regional training associations, assisting in organizing new regional training associations
  • * Instructor training program pool
  • * Financial support for schools when needed and approved as well as receiving and disbursing training grants
  • * A single voice representative of all OFIA members that addresses local, state, and national issues pertaining to fire service training
  • * Encouragement and support of fire service training that is oriented toward, and designated to, reduce the number of firefighter disabling injuries and line of duty deaths in Oregon

Emergency Medical Services

The EMS Section is a recognized sub-group of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association. Our purpose is to promote EMS within the fire service, assist the OFCA on EMS issues, and to provide fire-based EMS with a voice.
